UK Retailers Support New Retail Refrigeration Code of Conduct

Some of the UK’s largest commercial refrigeration users are supporting a new voluntary code of conduct for carbon reduction and energy efficiency. Produced in conjunction with the Carbon Trust, the Code of Conduct for Carbon Reduction in the Retail Refrigeration Sector is designed to reduce global warming emissions from refrigeration systems by 20 per cent over the next five years.

HSA Launches Online Risk Assessment & Safety Statement

The Health and Safety Authority is promising a renewed commitment to simplifying health and safety for small business under a new initiative called ‘Taking Care of Business’.

 

As part of the launch of the initiative, the HSA published details of their new free online tool called BeSMART, Business electronic Safety Management And Risk assessment Tool. The tool has been designed to help small businesses manage workplace health and safety in a very straightforward way and without the need for any specialist knowledge or major investment.

 

The tool is available now on the HSA website at www.hsa.ie

 

Visitors to the website are welcomed by a series of short video clips explaining Risk Assessments, Health and Safety Statements and the BeSMART tool itself.

 

Martin O’Halloran, Chief Executive of the Health and Safety Authority, says that this is part of a commitment to promote effective management of health and safety in small businesses.

 

 

“We want to take the mystery out of workplace health and safety. The new online tool and all of the advice available at our recent Expo is part of an overall strategy to help business proactively manage worker health and safety standards and save money.”
